| What is it? |
This initiative aims to engage, influence, motivate and empower
organizations on the business case for diversity in a practical and
appropriate way.
|
|
How does it work? |
|
There has been no visible or proactive initiative around the diversity business case to date. The
diversity task force wishes to take a new approach by highlighting the
fact that, in an ageing workforce and huge competition for new markets,
the diversity business case not only makes sense but is also an opportunity to bring about greater equity.

What has been achieved so f |
The initial work plan was launched in August 2006 in Vancouver and has developed since through conference calls and meetings. The initiative has gained support from Reuters and involved KPMG.

Unique value of the YGL contribution: |
YGLs provide a unique platform to shed light on the diversity issue because they combine experiences from the public, private and media sectors, they are a true multistakeholder network and therefore are well positioned to work on issues (such as diversity) that cut across industry, regional and sectoral lines.

How can you help make it happe |
We need help on researching the current state of
affairs, media contacts and growing our network. Going forward, we will
develop a diversity index and diversity award, and explore links between diversity and competitiveness. We will also host an event in London with Reuters in October called “Diversity of Style” and will raise awareness among the Davos community in January. Any and all further ideas are welcome.
