Young Global Leaders’ Delegation to Visit Pakistan

 delegation of Young Global Leaders will visit the earthquake-ravaged regions of Pakistan from Tuesday 13 December through Friday 16 December to begin drawing up an action plan that should help contribute to reconstruction efforts. The 10-person delegation will include: Michelle Guthrie, Chief Executive Officer, Star Group, Hong Kong; Bret Stephens Member of the Editorial Board, The Wall Street Journal, USA; Alja Brglez, Director and Founder, Institute of Civilization and Culture, Slovenia; and Nafisa Shah, former Mayor of Khairpur, Pakistan.
The Young Global Leaders’ delegation will focus on leveraging their network and resources in four key areas: (i) reconstruction; (ii) economic development; (iii) health; and (iv) ensuring sustained long-term global public awareness. The group will work closely with Pakistani officials and speak with local community members in and around Balakot, Mansehra and Abbotabad, some of the most severely affected towns, where hundreds of thousands of people are still homeless. Their itinerary also includes meetings with Pakistani leaders including Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and representatives from other government ministries as well as members of the donor community, relief agencies and UNHCR.
The YGL delegation will be available for interviews by telephone before, during and after their visit to Pakistan. In addition, television footage will be available upon request.
A press release detailing the delegation’s findings and action plan will be made available to global media on Wednesday 21 December.
