What is it?

This initiative aims to improve youth leadership in southern Africa.

How does it work?

The initiative will run an essay competition for youth in southern Africa on their vision for the African continent, publish their work and reward “winners” with a Leadership Camp which matches Young Global Leaders (YGLs) with youth.

What has been achieved   so far?

The project has been endorsed by Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel. The outreach plan is in the process of finalization.

Next steps?

The project aims for its first camp to take place in Spring/Summer 2008. Plans are now under way to divide the workload accordingly.

Unique value
of the YGL contribution:
This project can be replicated by using the YGL network and applying a similar model around the world.

How can you help make it happen?

Do you have links to universities in Africa? The project is looking for those networked with schools in southern Africa and the media.
