Josef Penninger

Director, Life Sciences Institute, University of British Columbia, Canada

Josef Penninger is the Founding Director of IMBA, a research initiative of the Austrian Academy of Sciences that promotes excellence in molecular biology and genetic research. Penninger is one of the world's leading mouse geneticists. In 2006, he received the Descartes Prize from the EU, the Ernst Jung Prize in Medicine and the Carus Medal for his work on finding genes that control life and disease. He is also the youngest Member of the Academy of Sciences in Austria and holds professorships in Toronto, Vienna and Beijing. Penninger has published more than 300 scientific articles; he was the first to identify the key function of a gene that controls bone loss in osteoporosis, arthritis, bone metastases, AIDS patients and in children with leukaemia and also found genes that regulate pain, heart disease, the circadian clock and, recently, lung failure involved in bird flu and bioterrorism. He has a degree in Medicine, studied Art History and worked for many years in Toronto.

Mia Perdomo

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Aequales, Colombia

Mia Perdomo is an entrepreneur, activist and feminist. She is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aequales, a company that provides tools for organizations to close their gender gaps through measurement, consultancy and technology. She is also the Co-Creator of Par Ranking, the largest corporate gender equality ranking in Latin America. She was named one of the 100 transforming women of Colombia, one of the 101 people that are changing the world of work by the BBC, and one of the most creative people in business in 2020 by Fast Company. She received a degree in Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and an MSc in human rights from the London School of Economics. She is also a Global Competitive Leadership Program Fellow at Georgetown University and an ECLA Program Fellow at Columbia University's Business School. She loves nature, dancing, and is curious about anything that brings passion to people's lives.

Aaron Pereira

Project Lead, The Wellbeing Project, France

Aaron is excited about the interplay between our inner lives and the broader world. Aaron Pereira is currently Project Lead for The Wellbeing Project. The Wellbeing Project is catalysing a culture of inner wellbeing for all changemakers. The Wellbeing Project is co-created with Ashoka, Georgetown, Impact Hub, Porticus, the Skoll Foundation, and Synergos. The Project emerged from a 7 year sabbatical ending in 2012. Aaron has also worked with the Guggenheim on an urban labs project, co-founded a pilot social enterprise to address the inequity and the housing issues in Mumbai slums, and on exploring different threads of how neighbourhood life happens especially in Paris. Pre-sabbatical, Aaron was co-founder of CanadaHelps and Vartana. CanadaHelps engages over 4 million Canadians to raise over CAD$400 million a year to support causes in their community and around the world. CanadaHelps also works with over 20,000 charities on capacity related issues. Vartana was one of the pioneers of the Canadian field of social finance. Aaron is an Ashoka Fellow and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Aaron completed a degree with a minor in Economics from Queen's University, studied at Oxford University as a Skoll Scholar, and completed an executive education program at Harvard.

Cheryl Perera

Founder and President, OneChild Network and Support Inc., Canada

Founder and President, OneChild, empowering a movement of children and youth to combat child sex trafficking. Her career in child protection began at age 17, after playing the main role of the decoy in a STING operation with Sri Lankan authorities to apprehend a child sex perpetrator. Today, her career spans over a decade where she has investigated child sex tourism (CST) cases; lobbied across private, public, and civil society organizations to increase action against CST legislation; and provided shelter and long-term comprehensive care to hundreds of victims in Asia.

Rodrigo Pérez-Alonso

Partner, Koalsulting, Mexico

Partner at Koalsulting, a firm specializing in public and government affairs. Former Executive Director of the National Air Transportation Chamber in Mexico, a major industry association for air transportation in Mexico. Law degree, ITAM; MSc in Public Policy, UCL; MPA, Harvard Kennedy School. Formerly Served in the Mexican Congress (2009-2012), in the Presidential Transition Team and as Director of Regulatory Affairs for Televisa, among other positions.

Specializes in law, policy and regulation of network and regulated industries.

Accomplished weekly columnist for Excelsior Newspaper and weekly commentary on national TV and radio for Grupo Imagen. Young Global Leader 2013 of the World Economic Forum. Law Degree (ITAM). MSc In Public Policy (UCL), Master in Public Administration (Harvard University).

An executive with more than 17 years experience in managing teams in the public and private sectors; regulatory affairs, legislation, regulation, finance and economics.

Until May of 2019, he served as the Executive Director of the National Air Transportation Chamber (CANAERO), a private industry association with a 52-year history that represents 67 national, international, and cargo airlines, as well as aviation service providers and private air taxi operators. He manages an annual budget of US$500,000 and seven staff members. Under his tenure, eight new members have been affiliated at CANAERO including Airbus. Participated in negotiations on behalf of the industry for the New International Airport, fuel market liberalization and passenger taxes.

Previously served as Director of Financial Planning and Evaluation at Telecomm-Telégrafos, a state-run telecommunications company with more than 15,000 employees (federal government’s satellites and its fiber optic backbone). Federal Congressman in the LXI Legislature where he chaired the Special Committee on Digital Access and served as Senior Member in the Economics Committee. In the private sector, he worked as a lawyer in various top-tier firms, as Director of Regulatory Affairs at Televisa Corporacion and as a partner at Techonomics, where he advised various companies.

In March 2013 the World Economic Forum selected him as a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders. Since 2010 he is a national columnist in Excelsior (Opinion, Money) and has written for magazines such as Forbes Mexico. Carlo Perez-Arizti

Partner, Baker McKenzie, Mexico

Carlo Perez-Arizti is a Partner at Baker McKenzie's Mexico City office, focusing on large national and international mergers and acquisitions, and on scaling up start-ups in Mexico and Latin America. He has worked at the firm for over 18 years in Mexico and New York City, and was promoted to partner at age 32. He is Mexico and Latin America’s head for innovation for the North America transactional practice Group. For his legal work, he has been recognized by Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and Latin Lawyer. Perez-Arizti co-founded Fundacion Participacion y Accion Ciudadana, an education and health NGO, and abogadoemprendedor.com, a free legal advice for startups. He has also been a mentor at a number of organizations, including Endeavor Mexico, SUM, MassChallange, AbogadasMX and Centro Mexicano Pro Bono. Perez-Arizti is regularly published by Tier 1 publications for his views on Mexico and Latin America’s entrepreneurial growth, including Reforma, Forbes, el Heraldo de Mexico, and Pro Magazine. He is a Member of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem and of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. Perez-Arizti graduated from Universidad Iberoamericana. He also has a master's in Public Management from the London School of Economics, where he was a Chevening and CONACYT scholar.

Lucas E. Pescarmona

Founder, Sitrack Corporation, USA

Lucas Pescarmona is President of Mercantil Andina Compania de Seguros (insurance) and Chief Operating Officer of VENTI, one of the leading industrial groups in Latin America. VENTI has its core businesses in the manufacturing and developing of renewable energy equipment and power stations. The capital goods manufacturing (IMPSA) includes hydromechanical and wind generation equipment, development of hydropower stations and wind farms for electric power generation; waste management and environmental services; auto industry supplies; and property and casualty insurance (Mercantil Andina). Pescarmona holds a BA in Economics and a BA in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as an MBA from Luigi Bocconi University.

Tokini Peterside-Schwebig

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, ART X Collective, Nigeria

Tokini Peterside is a Nigerian entrepreneur and businesswoman who is committed to creating a new narrative about Africa through its culture and creative industries. She is the Founder & CEO of ART X Lagos Collective, which organizes the Art X Lagos, the first international art fair in West Africa. The Financial Times described the fair as "a reflection of Nigeria's potential on the global scene," and it has since become a cornerstone of the African art sector, contributing significantly to Lagos' global positioning as a fast-emerging and exciting cultural hub. Tokini also launched platforms to support emerging talent: ART X Live! - a dynamic showcase and accelerator for rising musicians and artists, and the ART X Prize - Nigeria's leading award for emerging artists.

Paolo Petrocelli

Head, Dubai Opera, United Arab Emirates

An internationally recognised cultural leader who promotes cultural diversity, gender equality, and peace through music and arts, Petrocelli is the Founder and President of EMMA for Peace (Euro-Mediterranean Music Academy), one of the largest organisation for the promotion of music diplomacy globally. Currently he serves as the Head of Dubai Opera, the main performing arts center in the UAE. In 2022, he was selected by the think tank Friends of Europe among the 40 most influential young personalities in Europe.

Gregoire Pictet

Head of Human Resources, Asia, Banque Pictet et Cie SA, Switzerland

For over ten years, Grégoire has been working for the family business, a Swiss private Bank, in Switzerland, the Bahamas, and the UK. Grégoire currently leads the North American market for private clients out of Geneva, his hometown. Developing strong relationships is key in everything he does, both professionally and personally. Grégoire believes that more than ever, the World requires human connectivity and inquisitive minds. Grégoire holds an MBA from IESE and a MA from Edinburgh University. Outside work, he enjoys reading, playing tennis and hiking.

Christoph Pietsch

Chief Growth Officer DACH and Member of the Executive Board, Publicis Media GmbH, Germany

Christoph Pietsch is part of the management board of Publicis Groupe Germany. As Chief Growth Officer, he is responsible for group marketing, business development, innovation management, partnerships and corporate communications. In October 2015 he was appointed as the youngest Chief Marketing Officer in the country and the first in the global organization's history. From 2017 to 2021, Pietsch was Chief Marketing Officer of Omnicom's DDB Group in Germany. During those years, the 400-people-strong creative company became agency of the year two times in a row and finished all national creative rankings as #1. In 2020 and 2022, he was again named Agency Personality of the year by HORIZONT and New Business Magazine.

Marta Pinheiro

Director, XP Inc., Brazil

Before becoming a partner/Director, Marta was head of business development, leading a team focused on innovation, management and transformation of XP Inc. businesses. Previous to XP Inc, Marta worked worked in strategy and management consulting. She holds a degree in public administration. She is the leader of the MLHR3 group, which was responsible for XP Inc. commitment to reach 50% women in all hierarchical levels by 2025.
