Jaime is the Climate Envoy of the Netherlands. He has an extensive diplomatic career in forging partnerships for innovative solutions to complex global challenges. He was the Senior Advisor on Private Sector Partnerships to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), where he worked on the energy transition in refugee settlements. As the Ambassador of the Netherlands to the Holy See (Vatican), he partnered on peace, climate action and forced migration. As Special Envoy for Natural Resources, he initiated the Responsible Mining Index and set up conflict-free supply chains of metals and minerals in the DRC with the private sector and civil society. He was a member of the Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Competition, worked in the field as Political Advisor to the Dutch Commander of the NATO Peacekeeping Mission in Afghanistan and helped set up the Netherlands Embassy in Iraq. He has held various other functions in MENA, Africa and Latin America. Born in the Netherlands in 1972, he holds an MA from Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA from Brown University. He is married and has two young daughters. Concurrently he is a Member of the Board of the Forum of Young Global Leaders (WEF).

Gila Gamliel is Israel’s Minister of Environmental Protection. She served as the first ever Minister for Social Equality in the last 5 years, until May 2020 in which she was appointed as the Minister for Environmental Protection.

The ministry for Social Equality encompasses the advancement of senior citizens, young people, gender and minority equality, as well the Digital Israel project, which aims to leverage the country's standing as the Start-Up Nation to ensure that governmental and business services offered to the public use the most advanced methods in the world.

A member of the Knesset (Parliament) from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling Likud Party for over a decade, Ms. Gamliel has previously served as Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Deputy Minister for the Advancement of Young People, Students and Women. Among other roles, she chaired the Knesset's Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality, and served as a Member of the Knesset's Finance Committee, Economics Affairs Committee, and the Education, Culture and Sports Committee.

Ms. Gamliel is also a member of the Young Leaders Community of the Davos World Economic Forum, (the first Israeli public representative to the Forum) and was the first woman Chairperson of Israel's National Students' Union.

Ms. Gamliel holds an L.L.M. from Bar Ilan University, a L.L.B. from Ono Academic College, an M.A. in Philosophy and a B.A. in Middle Eastern History and Philosophy from Ben-Gurion University. She holds the rank of Sergeant in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), having served as the head of an air force investigative staff.

Ms. Gamliel, who lives in Tel Aviv, is married and the mother of
two.

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland is Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Ms. Freeland was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre in July, 2013. She was elected as Member of Parliament for University—Rosedale in October, 2015 and re-elected in October, 2019 and September, 2021.

From 2015 to 2017, Ms. Freeland served as Canada's Minister of International Trade, overseeing the successful negotiation of Canada's free trade agreement with the European Union, CETA. From January, 2017 to November, 2019, she served as Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. During this time, she was a leading advocate for democracy, human rights, and multilateralism around the world.

As Foreign Minister, she led and successfully concluded the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

In November, 2019, Ms. Freeland was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. In this capacity, she led Canada’s united response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She was appointed Minister of Finance in August, 2020. In her role as Minister of Finance, the Deputy Prime Minister has supported the Canadian economy’s strong recovery from the pandemic recession, introduced Canada’s first national system of affordable early learning and child care, and ensured the sustainability of Canada’s finances after the winding-down of emergency pandemic spending.

An esteemed journalist and author, the Deputy Prime Minister was born in Peace River, Alberta. She was educated at Harvard University before continuing her studies on a Rhodes Scholarship at the University of Oxford.

After launching her career in journalism as a Ukraine-based freelance correspondent for the Financial Times, The Washington Post, and The Economist, Ms. Freeland went on to various roles at the Financial Times of London. She then served as deputy editor of the Toronto-based Globe and Mail between 1999 and 2001, before returning to the Financial Times as deputy editor and then as United States managing editor.

In 2010, she joined Canadian-owned Thomson Reuters. She was a managing director of the company and editor of consumer news when she decided to return home and enter politics in 2013.

Ms. Freeland has written two books: Sale of the Century: The Inside Story of the Second Russian Revolution (2000); and Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else (2012). Plutocrats has been an international best-seller and won the Lionel Gelber Prize and National Business Book Award.

In 2018, the Deputy Prime Minister was recognized as Foreign Policy's Diplomat of the Year. She was also awarded the Eric M. Warburg Award by Atlantik-Brücke, for her achievements in strengthening transatlantic ties. In 2020, she was awarded Freedom House’s Mark Palmer Prize, in recognition of her years of work in championing democracy and human rights.

Ms. Elissa Golberg was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister - Strategic Policy at the department of Global Affairs Canada in September 2017. In that role she is responsible for developing, leading and coordinating Canada's emerging foreign, economic and international development policy agendas. She is also Champion for Innovation and Experimentation. From February 2015 to September 2017, she served as Assistant Deputy Minister - Partnerships for Development Innovation, where her team programmed some $330 million annually in development aid to reduce poverty in 126 countries, working with international and Canadian civil society, academic, professional associations and the private sector. From September 2011 to February 2015, Ms Golberg was Canada's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva and to the Conference on Disarmament. Prior to that, she held several other responsibilities within the Canadian government including Director-General - Stabilization and Reconstruction Task Force (START), and Representative of Canada in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Ms. Golberg has a Master's degree in International Relations. She is a member of the UN Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Disarmament. She is a recipient of the NATO ISAF General Service medal, the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, the Public Service Award of Excellence, and several Ministerial Awards for Foreign Policy Excellence. Unathi Kamlana was appointed as Head of Department - Policy, Statistics & Industry Department of the Reserve Bank of South Africa in July 2015. He joined the Bank in 2011 following a six-year career at National Treasury where he served as Chief Director: Financial Markets and Stability. During this time (2009-2011) he served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Revision of the Banks Act. Previously, he held various senior roles at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking.

Unathi holds Master of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce degrees; a Higher Diploma in Taxation; and has attended various management development programmes, including at the University of Cape Town, Duke University (United States) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Unathi participates in various international forums and is a member of the Experts Group of the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) Standing Committee on Standards Implementation (SCSI).

Elsie S. Kanza is a Tanzanian economist who is Special Adviser to the President of the World Economic Forum (WEF). As the head of the WEF’s regional agenda on Africa and member of the Executive Committee, since 2011 she has led numerous public-private collaboration initiatives to solve complex systemic challenges related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and African Union Agenda 2063. From 2006 to 2011, Kanza served as economic advisor to the President of Tanzania. Between 1997 and 2006, she worked in Tanzania’s finance ministry and its central bank.

Currently a Richard von Weizsacker Fellow, Kanza has been recognized for her achievements in advancing economic development. In 2008, she became an Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow, and in 2011 a WEF Young Global Leader. In 2020, the magazine Forbes Africa listed her as one of Africa’s 50 most powerful women. She has served on various boards, including those of the African Leadership Institute - South Africa, Mercy Corps Europe, The Nature Conservancy Africa Council, and the Uongozi Institute.

In 2015, Kanza was awarded a Doctorate of Business Administration (honors causa) from the University of Strathclyde for her role in driving transformative impact in Africa. She also holds a MA in Development Economics from the Center for Development Economics – Williams College; a MSc in Finance from the University of Strathclyde; and a BSc (cum laude) in International Business Administration from the United States International University - Africa.
