Vera Oliveira

Founder and Executive Director, Instituto C - Criança, Cuidado and Cidadão, Brazil

Vera Oliveira is a Brazilian social entrepreneur and Founder and Executive Director of Instituto C – Criança, Cuidado and Cidadão (Child, Care and Citizenship) based in São Paulo. Since its establishment in 2011, the organization has provided support to over 15,000 individuals, with a particular focus on children and adolescents facing social vulnerability. Instituto C guides and assists families through public service networks and social welfare programmes, empowering them to build autonomy and awareness of their rights and responsibilities. The institute's impactful work has earned recognition, including being named one of the 100 Best NGOs in Brazil in the past seven years. Prior to founding Instituto C, Oliveira gained valuable experience in market research at multinational companies such as Nielsen and Ipsos. Her time in this field fuelled her passion for understanding people’s needs and stories.

Mohammad Salem Omaid

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, iBnk.ae, United Arab Emirates

Dr. (Prof) Mohammad Salem Omaid has a storied career as a banker. In his career span of over 17 years, Dr. Omaid handled diverse roles having rich & extensive experience in Finance & Accounting, Corporate Accounts, Trade Finance, Corporate Credit Financing, Operational Banking, Investment Banking and Retail Banking. His association with the banking industry & his pioneering contribution towards the reformation of the banking structure is worth mentioning. He has been the pillar of many innovational projects and digitizing the economy. Over the years, Dr. Omaid developed himself as a leader with calculated thinking coupled with business intelligence and a capacity to take decisions which are result oriented. He developed himself as a strategist with excellence in formulating, developing & implementing business plans and policies to ensure attainment of business goals and profitable sell-though.
Presently he is the founder & CEO of a start-up innovation in the UAE which is a B2B embedded digital marketplace platform and disruptive in nature, which will assist in breaking, disrupting, facilitating, widening & creating a new business chapter not only in the UAE but the entire MENA region and other emerging markets. It will also bring-in a transformation into the "brick & mortar" banking concept with the implementation of BaaS and many other innovative transformations into the e-commerce market.
Dr. Omaid’s expertise and knowledge for a sustainable growth earned him several international accreditations. He has been a motivational speaker on many occasions across the globe while attending various felicitation programs.
He is playing a great role in shaping the young minds in the country & globally by way of sponsoring sports, health-drives and education.

Oluseun Onigbinde

Co-Founder and Global Director, Budgit, Inc., Nigeria

Oluseun Onigbinde is the co-founder and Director of BudgIT, a global civic organization that works to intersect civic education with institutional accountability across Africa. In 2011, he launched Nigeria's largest fiscal transparency group, known as BudgIT, which utilizes the value in public data, giving citizens radical insights into how public resources are managed. He led a team that mainstreamed the blend of data and design through infographics, having had a strong background and experience in strategy consulting, product development, data analytics, digital media, data journalism, and the use of social media for "factivism". Over the years, Mr. Onigbinde has utilized his technical knowledge to stimulate the use of data, thereby crafting insights for industry and civic decisions. Through BudgIT, his approach to the use of data has reached over 20 million citizens, cultivating and encouraging their interest in data and its value to communities. Oluseun Onigbinde is a recipient of the Ashoka Fellowship, Future Africa Awards, Quartz Africa 30 Innovators Award, Aspen New Voices Fellowship, Melvin Jones Fellowship, and Stanford Draper Hill Summer Fellowship. As a Knight Innovation Fellow, he also worked with the International Center for Journalists/Gates Foundation on rethinking health journalism in Nigeria. Oluseun has worked on several projects funded by MacArthur Foundation, Gates Foundation, Ford Foundation, Open Society Foundations, OXFAM, and Omidyar Network.

Adriana Ortiz

President, National Handcraft Institute (IPA), Paraguay

Adriana Ortiz is a Paraguayan designer and entrepreneur who studied fashion design in Mexico and Spain. She has a degree in Psychology. She started working as an entrepreneur building her own commercial brand of feminine accessories and jewellery integrating craft design with contemporary design. In 2018, she was appointed President of the National Handcraft Institute (IPA). Her work focuses on promoting Paraguayan crafts through contemporary design practices that enable the strengthening of the value chains of artisanal production. This creates opportunities for fairer trade and better incomes for 20,000 artisans, of whom 70% are women. She is also leading the creation of "Safeguard Schools" for the protection of ancestral knowledge, mainly in rural communities. During her mandate, the first Paraguayan Artisan Fund was created to give financial support to civil society organizations working with indigenous communities to promote and develop indigenous crafts. The public policies promoted by IPA allowed for the creation of more than 70 new commercial units to sell Paraguayan crafts in national and international markets with a positive economic impact for many families in the country. Ortiz aims to contribute to a better future for the country and the world.

Eva Otieno

Co-Founder, Filamujuani Foundation, USA

Eva Otieno is a connector between governments and institutional investors to channel much needed capital into Africa. As a strategist, she discusses Africa-focused market opportunities in order to attract financial flows into the region's local currency and hard currency fixed-income securities. Otieno has led roadshows in the region with investors that have combined assets under management of an estimated $50 billion, which is substantial capital that is seeking for robust returns in frontier Africa. Otieno also participates in thought leadership and media events through providing market insights where solutions are deliberated on how to attract capital into the region. In her role, she also engages with policy-makers to discuss solutions in fixed-income markets. Eva also engages with corporate clients where she provides market insights. This information assists the clients in making decisions as to which country to invest in bringing much needed Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Burcu Ozturk

Chief Financial Officer, MLP Saglık Hizmetleri A.Ş., Türkiye

Burcu Ozturk is the CFO of MLP Care, which operates with 30 hospitals and c.18,000 employees, the largest private hospital group in Turkey. Burcu Ozturk graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Political Science and Public Administration and then joined PricewaterhouseCoopers. During her 10 years of service, Burcu worked as a consultant in Mergers & Acquisitions activities of international investors. Burcu was transferred to PwC New York in 2010; where she provided consultancy services as a Director for 2 years. In 2019, Burcu was ranked among the Top 10 “CFO’s Best For Investor Relations” in Medtech&Services, in the global survey by “Extel”. In 2020, Burcu was awarded as the “Best CFO” in both Turkey and EMEA by “Institutional Investor”. In 2018 and 2020, Burcu entered the list of "Turkey's Top 50 CFO” prepared by Fortune magazine. Burcu is a member of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey and works in Access to Finance Group, contributing to the development of women entrepreneur ecosystem. Burcu is a Board member of Turkish Food Banking Foundation. Burcu is an Executive Board Member (responsible from fund development) in “Disaster Platform”, a platform created by +30 NGOs to minimize the effects of disasters in Turkey.

Walter Pacheco

Chief Executive Officer, Angolan Stock Exchange, Angola

Pacheco was raised in Angola but lived most of his life in Portugal and the United Kingdom, where he finished his higher education. Mr Pacheco holds a Bachelor Degree in Business and Economics and a Master Degree in International Finance (with distinction, first in his class). He started his career as a FX trader at the Standard Bank of Angola. As the former Head of Market Development at Angolas Capital Markets Commission, in 2014, Mr Pacheco oversaw the establishment of Bolsa de Dívida e Valores de Angola(BODIVA) - the Angolan Stock Exchange - which changed the landscape of the financial system in Angola, fostering investment and long-term growth. In 2014, while Mr Pacheco was Executive Director, Bodiva launched two secondary public debt trading markets (a treasury securities registration market and a wholesale treasury securities market). He was General Director of the Debt Management Office at the Ministry of Finance, Republic of Angola before serving as CEO of the Angolan Stock Exchange.

Amit Paley

Entrepreneur in Residence, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Bosnia and Herzegovina

Amit Paley is the Entrepreneur in Residence at the International Rescue Committee, the global humanitarian organization that provides aid and development in 40 war-affected countries. He previously served as CEO of The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people. Under Amit Paley’s leadership, The Trevor Project expanded the number of youth served more than ten-fold, launched a global expansion, and developed innovative technology tools leveraging AI and machine learning that were recognized as one of TIME magazine’s top 100 inventions of the year. Amit was also an Associate Partner at the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where his clients included Fortune 500 companies, governments, and non-profit organizations. Amit Paley started his career as a reporter at The Washington Post covering several high-profile beats, including as a foreign correspondent based in Iraq, where his work was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and a financial investigative journalist.

Amit is a sought-after speaker who has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, and CNN. He has been an adjunct professor at City University of New York and served on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Steering Committee, the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, the Board of the Center for Public Integrity, and Chair of the Graduate Council of The Harvard Crimson. Amit Paley graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Pradip Pariyar

Founder and Chairperson, Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance (DLMGA), Nepal

Mr. Pradip Pariyar is the Founder of Dalit Lives Matter Global Alliance (DLMGA) and currently leads the #DalitLivesMatter movement. He is also the Executive Chairperson of Samata Foundation. World Economic Forum has selected Mr. Pariyar as one of the Young Global Leaders in its Class of 2020. He was awarded ‘Asia’s 21 Young Leaders Award’ by Asia Society in 2018 in recognition of his contribution to training thousands of youths globally on leadership, peacebuilding, and social justice. In 2015, he was felicitated by the Nepal Government’s Ministry of Youth and Sports with the ‘Youth Leadership Award’ for his initiation of the Youth Vision 2025: a 10-year national youth development policy. Mr. Pariyar was also selected as a youth fellow by International Monetary Fund and World Bank in the year 2011.

Devina Pasta

Chief Executive Officer, Siemens Software, Siemens, Germany

Devina is transforming the industrial world through digital technology to enable countries and cities to shift towards more sustainable and efficient mobility, infrastructure, and energy systems; European governments have invited her to share her work with other pioneers; she was nominated 'Changemaker' at the London Tech week and is a strong advocate for diversity in tech.

Mayur Patel

President & MD, M-KOPA, Kenya

A leader in Africa’s tech sector, Mayur Patel is President & MD at M-KOPA, a leading consumer financing platform. Previously, he served as COO for Cassava Fintech, a provider of mobile wallet and payment solutions, and was CEO of the award-winning mobile streaming company, Kwesé iflix, offering pay-as-you-watch live and on-demand video services in Africa. Mayur is passionate about building inclusive and sustainable businesses. He is an Advisory Council Member of NYU Stern’s Center for Business & Human Rights, and Board member of the largest children’s educational entertainment organisation in Africa, Ubongo. His work has featured in the Lancet, Stanford Social Innovation Review and Chronicle of Philanthropy. A Rhodes Scholar, Mayur has a doctorate in International Development from Oxford. He is Zimbabwean, a 2020 World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and an Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellow.

Roberto Patiño

Founder, Convive, Venezuela

Roberto is a Venezuelan social entrepreneur focused on democracy and human rights. He holds a master’s in public policy from Harvard University, a master’s in advanced peace studies and mediation from ETH Zurich and a BS in manufacturing engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar. Patiño is the founder of the NGOs Mi Convive and Alimenta La Solidaridad that work in 240 vulnerable communities empowering +4,500 women volunteers to feed daily 15,000 children and reduce violence in hot spots. Patiño is also a director of Institute 2100 focusing on the intersection between democracy and technology. Roberto is a boardmember of Primero Justicia, a political party. He is a former leader of the student movement. He currently resides in Caracas, Venezuela.
