Rose Damen

Rose Damen is a Young Global Leader and the Managing Director of Damen Yachting. She has grown this division from luxury yachts into a business that inspires its clients to explore adventurously and also responsibly. Rose introduced a sustainability agenda to Damen Yachting, while supporting broader projects to protect the oceans. She is an advocate for gender balance and diversity. A graduate of INSEAD, Rose has prior experience as an investment research analyst in the UK and NGO coordinator in Sri Lanka. She serves on an number of non-profit boards, including those focused on the arts.

Akim Daouda

Chief Executive Officer, Gabonese Sovereign Wealth Fund (FGIS), Gabon

Chief Executive Officer of the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Gabonese Republic. The mission of the fund is to transfer wealth across generations by transforming finite resources into sustainable financial assets. Passionate about unlocking value for the region and bridging inequalities; oversees the SWF’s full portfolio of more than 100 investments spanning several sectors. Also articulates the fund investment strategy and provides high-level leadership. Works closely with government leaders and ministries, as well as private sector champions on issues related to economic development, industrial growth and transformation. 2017, joined the “Choiseul 100 Africa” list by Institut Choiseul. Ranked among Young African Business Leaders under the age of 40 who are expected to play a major and transformative role in the continent's economic development.

Bernice Dapaah

Chief Executive Officer, Ghana Bamboo Bikes, Ghana

Bernice Dapaah is an entrepreneur and an industry leader in the non-motorized transport subsector in Ghana where she has pioneered climate-smart mobility technology. She has championed the engineering of specialty bamboo bikes and other bamboo artifacts using locally available resources. Apart from bicycles, she has developed successful prototype of bamboo wheelchair and bamboo litter picker which has attracted the attention of the Paralympic Association and Ministry of Sanitation respectively. With over decade experience in bamboo technology, she has been the recipient of several awards due to her abiding contributions to the field. Bernice is the Chief Executive Officer of Envirotech Bamboo Limited and Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative and an Alumnus of Harvard University and Oxford University's Executive Fellowship programs in leadership. She is also an Alumnus of the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders and World Bamboo Ambassador. She holds a Masters degree in Development Management.
The inspiration for the innovation of bamboo bicycles came out of her fascination for the botanical properties of bamboo and learning from other ingenious inventions with bamboo. Her work has train and created employment for youths directly and indirectly and enriched the plantation stock of Ghana through her ambitious effort to tackle the issue of deforestation and ecosystem degradation.

Lucy d'Arville

A rising leader in Australian business focused on transforming health care, d'Arville's work with large payer and provider organisations has had a significant impact in creating more customer-centric and efficient operations. She is also passionate about having an impact in the social sector. This includes leading Bain Australia's social impact practice, supporting OzHarvest in their efforts to reduce food waste and co-leading Bain's collaboration with Social Ventures Australia and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute on Restacking the Odds to tackle intergenerational disadvantage.

Patricia Ellen da Silva

Young Global Leader, World Economic Forum, 2016 in recognition of achievements on digital innovation, education and economic development in government. Lectures on Leadership and Digital Innovation at the Master of Public Management Program of the Center for Public Leadership (CLP). MPA, Harvard Kennedy School; MBA, INSEAD. Chief Executive Officer of Optum Brazil until 2018; previously Partner at McKinsey & Company for nearly 18 years. Focused on public sector challenges, led projects in education, health, economic development, with special focus on digital government innovation. Co-Founder of Movimento Agora!, which seeks to modernize public policy provision and management by promoting social engagement, to build a more humane and sustainable country.

Vera Daves de Sousa

Minister of Finance, Ministry of Finance of Angola, Angola

Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa, was born in Luanda and has a degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Angola (UCAN). She is the first woman rising to the post of Minister of Finance in Angola. Before her appointment she was Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury. Her curriculum includes the Course on Banking Techniques and Practices by the Institute for Banking Training and Derivatives and Bond Markets Course in ICAP (Portugal). She started the career at Sonangol ESSA. After she worked at Banco Privado Atlântico as Head of Research and Products Office. From 2014 to 2016 she has the position of Executive Director of the Capital Market Commission (CMC) where became from September 2016 to October 2017 the Chairman of the Capital Market Commission. She was engaged in teaching Financial Markets at the Executive MBA promoted by the Catholic Business School Alliance and teacher of Public Finance and Economic Integration at Catholic University of Angola (UCAN) - Faculty of Economics. Vera Daves de Sousa also played the role of Economic commentator in various media. She was the co-author of a book on Public Finance. Her hobbies are dance, yoga and reading.

Martyn Davies

Dr Martyn Davies is the Managing Director of Emerging Markets & Africa at Deloitte and is the Dean of Deloitte’s Alchemy School of Management. Over his career, he has been a trusted advisor to executives at a large array of multinational firms on their market entry & engagement strategies in emerging markets and Africa. He has also conducted a large amount of advisory work on behalf of the public sector having advised a number of governments in numerous regions.

Prior to joining Deloitte, Martyn founded Frontier Advisory, a strategy and corporate finance advisory firm that was subsequently acquired by Deloitte. Dr Davies has previously been ranked the # 1 analyst in South Africa in the “African Economies & Markets” category as awarded by the Financial Mail in its prestigious Annual Analysts of the Year awards.

He is a Global Fellow at the MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth – a group comprising leading international economists which works on subjects relating to macro-economy and inclusive growth.

Martyn was selected in 2010 as a Young Global Leader, an honour bestowed by the World Economic Forum each year to recognise distinguished young leaders. He is also a member of the global Young President’s Organisation (YPO).

He is a Visiting Professor at IE Business School, Madrid, Spain and is a Non-Executive Director of the NEPAD Business Foundation.

Martyn has been educated at Wits University, Yonsei (Seoul) Harvard, Yale and Oxford Universities.

Eric Dayton

An apparel, hospitality, and real estate entrepreneur, Eric Dayton started a movement to reimagine the identity of America's north as one of adventure, creativity and the embrace of cold winters. His company is on a mission to keep the north cold by donating 110% of its own carbon impact to organizations leading the fight against climate change. Prior to founding Askov Finlayson, he was a member of Arctic Transect 2004, a six-month, 2,000 mile dogsled expedition focused on climate research and education.

Alberto de Belaunde

Program Adviser, Global Advocacy, OutRight Action International, USA

Alberto de Belaunde (he/him) is the Program Adviser - Global Advocacy at OutRight. He is a lawyer with a master's degree in environmental management and postgraduate studies in public policy. He was the second openly gay congressman in the history of Peru. In 2019, he was awarded the Victory Institute Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award for his work on behalf of the LGBT+ community. In 2021 he was part of the Yale World Fellowship. He has published two books, one of them about openly LGBTQ+ authorities in Latin America.

Daniel de Boer

Daniel de Boer is a passionate entrepreneur with a drive to make a meaningful impact on society. Initially, he was focused on building IT companies; however, when his newborn son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening disease with a limited life expectancy, it put everything in his life into perspective. de Boer decided to turn his focus towards finding a treatment for his son and other patients suffering from cystic fibrosis. He founded ProQR Therapeutics, which currently has 150 employees across Europe and the United States. Inspired by his work for cystic fibrosis patients and with a goal to impact many more lives, de Boer decided to broaden the scope of ProQR to include developing drugs for several other severe, rare diseases for which no treatments are available.
