Hassan El Houry

Chairman, Menzies Aviation Inc., United Kingdom

A global executive with experience leading teams on six continents, I currently serve as full-time Board Chair of Menzies Aviation – the world’s largest aviation services company. I spearheaded the acquisition of Menzies by Agility, and its integration with National Aviation Services (NAS). I led NAS for more than 10 years and grew the company into the leading airport ground handling and cargo company in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, from our base in Kuwait.

As we strive to be the undisputed world leader in aviation services, Menzies Aviation serves the world’s highest-rated airlines in more than 250 airports, with a team of more than 35,000 staff in 56 countries on six continents. We provide comprehensive aviation services that include ground and cargo handling, warehousing and air freight, aircraft fueling, wholesale freight forwarding, airport technologies, and lounges management.

In 2014, I was honored by the World Economic Forum in Davos as a Young Global Leader for my contributions to aviation and airport services. I have participated in the meetings in Davos 9 times, and have been invited to speak about aviation policy and mobility. I was also invited to join the Global Future Council on Mobility, and serve on several boards including National Real Estate Company (NREC – listed), United Projects Company (UPAC – listed), Silk Road Mining, Royal Aviation and the Center for Leadership at the University of Colorado - Boulder.

I have an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's Degree from the American University of Beirut. I am a husband, father of three sons, and enjoy running, swimming, beach volleyball, and reading biographies.

Nima Elmi

Head of Public Policy, Europe, Bumble Inc., United Kingdom

Bachelor of Laws (Hons), King's College, London; Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Oxford; Master of Laws (Hons), Harvard Law School, UK Fulbright Scholar. Admitted to the Supreme Court of England and Wales as a Solicitor. Public international law and policy development expert focused on international relations from peacebuilding initiatives to the governance of emerging technologies. Nima has previously worked in investment banking, at the United Nations, for international law firms in London and the Middle East, and as an adviser and strategist to senior officials in Government in East Africa and at the African Union. She is an angel investor, public speaker, lecturer and thought leader on technology governance, and sits on the Boards of start-ups in the health and venture funding spaces. Nima has been recognised for her achievements by the UK Powerlist as a Rising Star in 2012 and selected to join the Forum of Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum in 2016.

Richard Ettl

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, SkyCell, Switzerland

Richard is the CEO and Co-founder of SkyCell; SkyCell delivers a system-critical service to secure the distribution of medicine and vaccines worldwide to doctors, patients, and pharma companies while reducing the CO2 footprint of the shipments by 50%. Before SkyCell, he helped to build up the Institute for Value-Based Entrepreneurship "IVE Institute" in Switzerland, which provided more than 3500 students with business plan creation classes and leadership insights from top CEOs free of charge. He co-led the Alumni Organization for more than ten years. Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Université de Fribourg. Richard is married and lives in the Zurich area with his two daughters. His hobbies include skiing, sailing, and coaching startups pro bono.

Carola Ferstl

Founder, Learn money eV, Germany

Carola Ferstl is Anchor and Filmmaker with the German news programme N-TV. She has dedicated her entire career to helping people understand their personal finance and investments on the stock exchange by translating complicated terminologies into simple, clear language. Ferstl graduated with a degree in Business Administration in Hamburg and began working for N-TV in 1992. She has written several books, including Woman Are Better Investors; her lectures are widely regarded. In 2009, Ferstl founded ?learn money e.V.?, a German-based foundation for financial literacy.

Philipp Jan Flach

Chief Executive Officer, LOGEX, Netherlands

Philipp Jan Flach is the CEO of LOGEX, a big data company in the Netherlands focused on using the abundance of data in hospitals to inform the decisions and actions of doctors and hospital managers. At LOGEX, he uses his skills and experience from his work in different healthcare organizations and management consulting to direct LOGEX’ effort towards value based healthcare (VBHC).

Philipp Jan is a big believer in secondary prevention – both as an objective for doctors and hospitals, and as a goal for society and its people.

Before LOGEX, Philipp Jan was an executive board member of MC Slotervaart in Amsterdam and the MC Groep hospitals in Lelystad, Emmeloord and Dronten, all in the Netherlands. Until early 2014 he was chief executive at DeSeizoenen (“The Seasons”), an organization that provides long term care to mentally disabled people, and which he restored to health after bankruptcy in December 2011.

A medical doctor by training, Philipp Jan holds MSc and MD-degrees from the Free University of Amsterdam and an MBA from Harvard University in Boston. At Harvard, he worked with Prof. Porter on value based healthcare.

In 2013, Philipp Jan was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. He lives in Amsterdam with his wife and daughter.

Gloria Fluxa Thienemann

Vice-Chairman and Chief Sustainability Officer, Iberostar Group, Spain

Degree in Business Administration, Villanova University, Philadelphia, USA; Accelerated Executive Development Program, IMD Business School, Lausanne, Switzerland; Owner/President Management Program, Harvard Business School, Boston, USA. Vice-Chairman and Chief Sustainability Officer, Iberostar Group, a 100% family-owned Spanish multinational company based in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), operating in the tourist sector since 1956 and dating back to 1877. Its sales network covers 35 countries; it has a staff of more than 32,000 employees and handles 8 million customers a year. Hospitality is the company’s core business, with a portfolio of over 120 four- and five-star hotels located in 19 countries. The group has three further business units: travel and incoming activities, a holiday club and real estate. Advancing the company’s approach to responsible tourism with the launch of the Wave of Change movement focusing on marine and ocean preservation that evolves around: becoming single-use-plastic free, promoting responsible seafood consumption, and improving coastal health. It is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14, Life Below Water. It is aimed at uniting employees, customers, suppliers and society to create an increasingly more responsible tourism industry. Cristina Fonseca

Partner, Indico Capital Partners, Portugal

Cristina is Chief Executive Officer at Cleverly.ai, and Partner at Indico Capital Partners. Formerly she co-founded Talkdesk, which now has more than 1000 employees, and provides cloud call centre infrastructure to several thousand companies. Her experience as an entrepreneur has led her to play a fundamental role in shaping the current Portuguese entrepreneurial ecosystem. She mentors and invests in numerous tech companies in the areas of digital transformation, business applications, mental health, e-commerce and AI, and drives efforts in improving inclusion and diversity, which has granted her several honours and awards. She is the youngest board member of the largest energy company in Portugal, Galp, where she is also part of the Sustainability Committee.

Philipp Freise

Partner; Co-Head, European Private Equity, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co Partners LLP, United Kingdom

Philipp Freise is Co-Head of European Private Equity and serves as a member of KKR's European Private Equity and Growth Equity Investment Committees, as well as its European Portfolio Management Committee. Mr. Freise led KKR's investments in FGS Global, Axel Springer SE, BMG Rights Management, Fotolia, GetYourGuide, GfK SE, Leonine, Mediawan SAS, Scout24 Switzerland and Trainline and played a significant role in various other KKR TMT (Exact, ProSiebenSat.1, SBS Broadcasting) and German transactions (Demag, Duales System Deutschland, MTU Aero Engines, Zumtobel). Mr. Freise currently serves on the board of directors of FGS Global, Axel Springer SE, Leonine and Mediawan SAS. He was a scholar of the German National Scholarship foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) and graduated top of his class at WHU Koblenz, EDHEC Lille and University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business. He later worked at McKinsey & Company in Vienna, Frankfurt and New York, and subsequently co-founded Berlin-based venture investment firm Venturepark, Europe's first pan-European incubator. In 2009, Mr. Freise was named a Young Global Leader and in 2014 a member of the Agenda Council on the Future of Financing and Capital of the World Economic Forum. Mr. Freise is a member of the Kuratorium of the Bayreuth Opera Festival (Gesellschaft der Freunde von Bayreuth) and serves on the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden Foundation, London as Vice Chairman.

Katherine Garrett-Cox

Operating between London and New York, the business was established in 1975 and focuses on client-related activities in asset management and treasury. GIB UK's asset management strategy is focused on scaling and mobilizing capital in support of sustainable investment strategies, across equities and fixed income. Formerly Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer, Alliance Trust PLC, one of Europe’s largest providers of sustainable and responsible investment funds. Chair, Clean Air Fund; Chair, CDP Worldwide Board; Chair, Gousto. Former Member: Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank AG (2011-2020); UK Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Group; Scottish Business Board; Commission for the Green Investment Bank; Steering Group, Capital Markets Climate Initiative; Executive Committee, World Business Council for Sustainable Development; Founder Member, Advisory Council of The CityUK. Agon Gashi

Chief Executive Officer, Meridian, Kosovo

Agon is born and lives in Pristina, Kosovo. Agon graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Bard College in New York and he also completed a leadership program at IMD in Switzerland a few years later. In 2023, Agon was recognized as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Agon joined his family business in June 2010, and in two years, he co-founded Meridian Express, a chain of neighborhood stores, now one of the leading retail companies in the country. In 2020, Agon managed to acquire 100% of SPAR Kosovo, an international chain of supermarkets.

Agon is a very active member of society and positively transforms Kosovo's business environment by showing that we can all do well by doing good. He is Vice-Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce, founder and board member of Kosovo CSR Network, founder and board member of the Kosovo Retail Association, and a signatory of WEPs (Women's Empowerment Principles).

In 2018, Agon led Meridian to become a New Champion at the World Economic Forum. Agon is currently the CEO of two retail companies in Kosovo (Meridian Express and SPAR) with more than 1000 employees and concrete plans to further expansion locally and regionally.

Alexander Geiser

Chief Executive Officer and Partner, FGS Global Europe GmbH, Germany

Alex is Chief Executive Officer of FGS Global. He joined the firm in 1998 and advises clients on communicating M&A transactions, on CEO transitions, as well as Corporate Strategy launches. Alex has advised on more than 100 M&A transactions and leadership changes.

With his international background, Alex is ideally placed to advise clients on the development and implementation of cross-border strategies. Throughout his career Alex has worked in New York, London, Düsseldorf, and now calls Frankfurt his home office.

Alex studied Politics and Economics at Western University in Canada. He completed post-graduate studies at INSEAD and Harvard University. In 2014, he was named “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum (Geneva). He is happily married to the love of his life, with whom he has three wonderful children. His passion for hiking adventures has seen him explore the most remote regions of places like the Andes, Iceland, Tibet, and Yukon.

Laura Gersch

Member of the Board of Management; Chief Financial Officer, Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG, Germany

Laura is CFO of Allianz Versicherungs-AG, the market leader of the German P/C insurance market serving more than 10 million customers. She is a strong advocate of the societal role of (life) insurance striving to contribute to the reduction of the gender pension gap in Germany by advocating financial literacy for women. She is a purpose-driven leader, who played an instrumental role in developing the purpose for Allianz Group while she was running the Group CEO Office of Oliver Bäte. Before joining Allianz, she worked for McKinsey & Company. She holds a double degree in International Business from European School of Business in Reutlingen, Germany and from Northeastern University in Boston, USA.
