Unathi Kamlana

Commissioner, Financial Sector Conduct Authority, South Africa

Unathi Kamlana was appointed as Head of Department - Policy, Statistics & Industry Department of the Reserve Bank of South Africa in July 2015. He joined the Bank in 2011 following a six-year career at National Treasury where he served as Chief Director: Financial Markets and Stability. During this time (2009-2011) he served as a member of the Standing Committee on the Revision of the Banks Act. Previously, he held various senior roles at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking.

Unathi holds Master of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce degrees; a Higher Diploma in Taxation; and has attended various management development programmes, including at the University of Cape Town, Duke University (United States) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Unathi participates in various international forums and is a member of the Experts Group of the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) Standing Committee on Standards Implementation (SCSI).

Matthew Katz

Global Head, Data Science, Blackstone Group, USA

Matthew Katz is a Senior Managing Director and the Global Head of Data Science for Blackstone. He leads Blackstone’s team of data scientists and in this capacity partners with management teams and operators to accelerate growth across Blackstone’s portfolio companies by leveraging data science. He and his team additionally work closely with Blackstone’s investment teams to provide a differentiated viewpoint through advanced analytics during the investment process.
Before joining Blackstone in 2015, Mr. Katz was a Vice President at Point72 Asset Management where he focused on data science and investing. He began his career at Credit Suisse.
Mr. Katz graduated with honors from Princeton University. He serves on the advisory board of Virginia Tech’s Academy of Data Science and is on the Blackstone Charitable Foundation Leadership Council.

Brian Kaufmann

Head, Private Equity; Portfolio Manager; Member of the Management Committee, Viking Global Investors, USA

Mr. Kaufmann is the Head of Private Equity and a Portfolio Manager for Viking Global Investors, LP, a global investment firm that manages over $40 billion. He is also a member of the firm's Management Committee. From 2010 to 2016, Mr. Kaufmann was a public equity Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst responsible for investment ideas in the healthcare and life sciences sector. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Kaufmann was an Associate at TA Associates, where he was responsible for originating, researching and executing private equity investments in the healthcare and business services sectors. From 2003 to 2005, he was an Investment Banking Analyst in Merrill Lynch's Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Mr. Kaufmann is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where he received an MBA and was a Baker Scholar, and of Cornell University, where he received a B.S. in applied economics and business management, magna cum laude. In 2021, he was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

Bogolo Joy Kenewendo

Regionalization & Just Transition Director; Special Adviser, UN Climate change High Level Champions, Botswana

Bogolo Joy Kenewendo's career spans trade & investment, finance & development, and public policy. She is the Regionalisation Director, and Special Advisor to the UN Climate Change High Level Champions.
Kenewendo served as a Specially Elected Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry in Botswana. She serves in various corporate and philanthropic boards including as Chairperson of Bank Gaborone, Non-Executive Director of the Africa Free Trade Area adjustment Fund Corporation and the Africa Center for Economic Transformation.
She also advises governments and international institutions on trade and economic development policy.

Kenewendo has served the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres’ High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation, Advisory group on the gender architecture of the UN and group on Financing for Development.
She is also a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Trade Advisory Group, Global Future Council on Global Public Goods in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and a WEF Young Global Leader. She is a Non-Resident Fellow with the Center for Global Development.

She is frequently named among Africa's Most Influential People by various publications. In 2022 she was named among Prestigious Time magazine’s TIME100 Next Honorees highlighting 100 emerging leaders from around the world who are shaping the future and defining the next generation of leadership.

Betty Enyonam Kumahor

Chairperson, The Cobalt Partners, Ghana

Enyo Kumahor is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Cobalt Partners; an advisory firm specializing in design thinking, software development and performance improvement. Formerly with Ernst & Young as a Global Technology Leader and ThoughtWorks as the Regional Managing Director for Africa, Enyo has a depth of management consulting and software development experience across both public and private sector clients across the world. Enyo serves on a number of advisory boards and is a recognized speaker on technology and telecommunications in Africa. She has been profiled on programmes including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation's UniqFM StandOut programme, and in Ernst & Young's Global NextGen, and led her company (ThoughtWorks) to be nominated as best African Company of the Year in 2013.

Brie Loskota

Executive Director, The Martin Marty Center for the Public Understanding of Religion, University of Chicago. research explores how religions change and make change in the world. Working to enhance religious pluralism and community resilience. Advises foundations and government agencies on effective strategies for effective partnership and engagement. Co-Founder of the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute; former Implementing Partner, United State Institute of Peace’s Generation Change program, training emerging leaders committed to peace-building from the Middle East, Africa and South America. Member, Pacific Council on International Policy, Religion and Foreign Policy Advisory Board, Council on Foreign Relations. Past fellowships include Aspen Institute, German Marshall Memorial Foundation, USC Homegrown Violent Extremism Working Group. Member of the board of several non-profit organizations and government bodies working at the intersections of religion and public life.

Poonam Mahajan

Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha from Mumbai North Central, Maharashtra, Parliament of India, India

Poonam Mahajan is a member of parliament from Mumbai North Central and a politician of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). She is also the first woman President of the Basketball Federation of India.

Tamer Makary

Founder, Ethica Partners, USA

Tamer Makary has long served to deliver sustainable strategies that ensure all people, regardless of their economic means, have access to quality care and equal opportunity. Tamer is a sector agnostic, accomplished strategy advisor and social advocate, with extensive emerging market experience. He focuses his efforts on the growing intersect between the worlds of commerce and philanthropy and is committed to evolving donor dependent programs and advancing standalone socially sustainable business models. Most recently, Tamer founded Ethica Partners, a specialized advisory/investment platform focused on supporting governments, multinational corporations and NGOs on strategy development, implementation/transaction execution support and capital raising initiatives.

Tamer graduated, in 2001, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Columbia University and currently serves on the Board of the Africa Eye Foundation, the Samuel S. Fels Foundation and is an advisor to Impact4All.org. He is a member of the Ashoka Support Network, the BMW Young Leaders Foundation and was recently selected into the World Economic Forum's Class of 2018 Young Global Leaders.

H.R.H. Prince Mateen of Brunei Darussalam

Prince, The State of Brunei, Brunei Darussalam

He is the tenth child and fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and a Major of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He accompanies his father to numerous events, such as during the US-ASEAN special summit.

Billy Mawasha

Chief Executive Officer, Kolobe Nala Investments, South Africa

Billy Mawasha has been CEO of Kolobe Nala Investment Company (KNI) since April 2019. KNI is an investment holdings company with interests in mining, manufacturing, and energy.

Prior to KNI, Billy was Country Head – South Africa for Rio Tinto and Managing Director of Richard Bay Minerals. He previously held leadership, operational and technical roles at Anglo American (Kumba Iron Ore), AngloGold Ashanti and De Beers. His career has given him deep exposure to mining operations and projects across the Africa continent.

Billy is a Certified Director (IoDSA) and a Non-Executive Director of JSE listed Impala Platinum Holdings, Exxaro Resources and Metair Investments.

In 2017, Billy was selected as a Young Global Leader (YGL) of the World Economic Forum, and in March 2023, he was invited to join the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Responsible Resource Use.

Billy graduated with an Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town and has completed executive development programmes at Harvard Kennedy School, Kellogg School of Management, London Business School and GIBS in South Africa.

Denis B. Minev

Chief Executive Officer, Bemol e Fogas, Brazil

Denis Minev is CEO of Bemol, a top retailer in northern Brazil. He is also a Co-Founder and Member of the Board of Fundação Amazonas Sustentável, an NGO that promotes development and conservation in poor communities of the Brazilian Amazon. In 2012, he was nominated a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Between 2007 and 2009, Minev served as State Secretary for Planning and Economic Development of Amazonas and was previously an analyst at Goldman Sachs. He holds a BA in Economics and an MA in Latin American Studies from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
