Omar Sultan Al Olama

Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Office of the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, United Arab Emirates

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama was appointed Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work of the United Arab Emirates in 2020. He joined the government in 2017 as Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, where he was responsible for enhancing government performance by investing the latest technologies and tools of artificial intelligence and applying them in various sectors. Al Olama is also the Managing Director of the World Government Summit in the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, and Deputy Director of the Future Department at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, where he contributed to the preparation of the UAE Centennial 2071 strategy and the UAE 4th Industrial Revolution Strategy. Al Olama has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the American University of Dubai, and a Diploma in Project Management and Excellence from the American University of Sharjah.

Anderson Tanoto

Managing Director, Royal Golden Eagle (RGE), Singapore

Anderson Tanoto is Managing Director and Member of the Executive Management Board of RGE, a group of world-class companies in resource-based manufacturing industries operating in Indonesia, China, Brazil, and Canada, with over $35 billion in assets and a workforce of over 70,000 people. He is also a member of the executive committee of Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL), one of the largest pulp and paper producers in the world. As a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tanoto Foundation, Tanoto has led various foundation initiatives and is a keen philanthropist focused on and passionate about leadership development and poverty alleviation. He was formerly a consultant at Bain & Company and holds a BSc in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Abdulrahman Tarabzoni

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Saudi Technology Ventures, Saudi Arabia

Founder and CEO of STV, the largest technology investment firm in the Middle East that's backing the region's most disruptive technology champions and shaping its technology venture capital ecosystem. Held executive leadership roles at Google’s headquarters including heading the company's global efforts to build new businesses and partnerships for Android, and establishing Google's emerging business operations in the Middle East. A member of the board of trustees and directors of several leading organizations. Attended MIT and received BSc and MEng degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in Economics. Actively solving the technology advancement and talent development agendas through impactful investments and public-private partnerships.

Sue Anne Tay

Chief of Staff to the Co-Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific, The Hongkong and Shanghai Corporation Limited (HSBC SGH), Hong Kong SAR, China

Sue Anne Tay is Managing Director, Chief of Staff to the Co-CEO for HSBC Asia Pacific, focusing on Greater China.

She was previously Head of Strategy & Chief of Staff for Singapore where she served on the local Executive Committee. Before Singapore, she was based in London as Director with the Group Strategy team, and in Shanghai where she worked on the bank’s organic business strategy in-country and subsequently led the bank’s planning and business implementation of its rural banking business in China.

In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, she serves as Global Co-chair of HSBC’s Employee Resource Group Generations, focused on driving multi-generational engagement across the Bank.

Sue Anne is a World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leader and an Asia Fellow of the Schmidt Futures International Strategy Forum. She is on the Board of Young China Watchers, a network of 5,000 China-focused young professionals across Asia, Europe and the US as future China thought leaders.

Teh Hua Fung

Co-Founder and Group President, Group ONE Holdings (ONE), Singapore

Hua Fung Teh is the Co-Founder and Group President of Group ONE Holdings (ONE). He co-leads the company’s management team with a focus on group strategy, global partnerships and capital markets.

Prior to ONE, Teh was a Principal at global private equity firm TPG Capital (TPG), and was responsible for the origination, execution and portfolio management of growth and late-stage investment deals in Southeast Asia. He also served on TPG’s China and US teams. Before TPG, Teh was an aviator with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and held leadership positions both at the RSAF and at Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, where he served as the Ministry’s Formula One (F1) Project Team Leader. In this role he helped secure the F1 Grand Prix hosting rights for Singapore and coordinated efforts between government agencies and the private sector to execute the first night race in F1 history in 2008.

Teh holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MEng and BS in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he was a member of the men’s varsity basketball team. A Taekwondo black-belt holder, he was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2015, and sits on the board of the Singapore Art Museum (SAM).

Ashish J. Thakkar

Group Chief Executive Officer, Y9, United Arab Emirates

Ashish is a celebrated serial entrepreneur and philanthropist. He started his first business in 1996 at the age of 15 with a $5,000 loan. Since then, Ashish and his family have driven the growth of the company from a small IT business in Uganda to the globally recognized multi-sector investment group that exists today. Through its businesses and investments, the family now created a presence across 26 African countries in sectors spanning technology, manufacturing, real estate and financial services. Ashish is passionate about enabling, empowering and inspiring young entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs. In 2009, he launched the families Foundation to foster and support emerging entrepreneurs through mentorship, Mara Mentor is a free online global platform that connects emerging entrepreneurs with business leaders and industry experts. The family's vision is to create a self-sustaining Africa through entrepreneurship.

Peter A. Thiel

Partner, Founders Fund, USA

Peter Thiel is President of Clarium Capital Management, a global macro hedge fund with offices in San Francisco and New York. He oversees the firm's research, investment, and trading strategies. He is also a partner in The Founders Fund, a US$ 50 million venture capital firm. In addition to managing Clarium, Thiel is active in a variety of philanthropic and educational pursuits. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Research Institute and on the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School. He also serves on the boards of non-profit educational organizations, such as Stanford Law School, where he has also taught, and the Hoover Institution. Before starting Clarium, he served as Chairman and CEO of PayPal, Inc., an Internet company he co-founded in December 1998 that was acquired by eBay Inc. for US$ 1.5 billion. Thiel began his financial career as a derivatives trader at CS Financial Products after practising securities law at Sullivan & Cromwell. He won the Herman Lay Award for Entrepreneurship in 2005. He received a BA in Philosophy from Stanford University and a JD from Stanford Law School.

Anahita Thoms

Partner, International Trade Practice, Baker McKenzie, Germany

Anahita Thoms is an award-winning lawyer who focuses her practice on global investigations, in the field of sustainability and international trade law, including sanctions, export controls, foreign investment review, data protection, business and human rights. She leads Baker McKenzie's International Trade Practice in Germany and is a Member of the firm's Europe, Middle East and African regional Steering Committee for the Compliance & Investigations Group. She is a Board Member of Atlantik-Brücke, serves on the National Committee of Unicef Germany and is Advisory Board Member of the Sustainable Finance Council of the German Federal Government. She is a regularly interviewed by media outlets as an expert and is a speaker at international conferences on diverse topics, such as trade, sustainability, diversity and ethics. Anahita is committed to giving back to society and is passionate about human rights and the fight against modern slavery.

Lauren Tilstra

Executive Director; Chief Executive Officer, Communications; Chief of Staff, Verizon Communications, USA

Lauren Tilstra is a seasoned leadership communications advisor who’s spent her career launching and counseling Fortune 50 c-suite executives across technology and media. She currently serves as Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Strategic Communications to the Chairman and CEO of Verizon. She’s the first in the firm’s 22-year history to serve in both roles simultaneously.

Tilstra is a passionate advocate for digital inclusion and in 2020 she joined Verizon’s Chairman and CEO, Hans Vestberg and Chief Strategy Officer, Rima Qureshi in forming the EDISON Alliance with Professor Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum. In this role, she leads communications for the Alliance and is working daily to connect 1B lives to the promise of the digital world. She also serves on the Board of grassroots organization, Friends for Global Change and Is a founding member of the National Executive Communication Council. Tilstra is a PRWeek 40 under 40 and was named Penn State University’s College of Communications Outstanding Alumni of 2022.

Alice Usanase

Head, Country Relations and Equity Mobilization, Africa Finance Corporation - AFC, Rwanda

Alice Usanase is a highly accomplished executive with over a decade of expertise in developing and identifying business opportunities in frontier/emerging markets. With a strong focus on mobilizing resources for organizational sustainability, she has successfully led diverse teams at the World Bank Group and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). Usanase specializes in creating tailored solutions for sovereigns, institutional investors and development finance institutions (DFIs), utilizing her extensive local market knowledge to design impactful strategies and policies for sustainable development. Additionally, she co-authored the publication, Infrastructure Financing in Sub-Saharan Africa – Best Practices From Ten Years in the Field, in collaboration with BCG and AFC. Usanase's commitment to social impact is further demonstrated through her co-founding of We*Care, a social community dedicated to creating educational opportunities for vulnerable children in Rwanda, facilitating their return to school and reuniting them with their families. She was also recently selected as part of the WEF 2024 Young Global Leader cohort.

Aakrit Vaish

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Jio Haptik Technologies Limited, India

Aakrit Vaish is the Co-Founder & CEO of Jio Haptik, one of the world's largest AI companies. He founded the company in 2013 as Haptik, which was acquired by Reliance Jio Platforms in 2019 in a $100 million transaction, forming the new entity of Jio Haptik. Aakrit has been a pioneer in the conversational AI space, leading the wave of transforming customer experience digitally. Under his leadership, Haptik has powered more than 200 brands globally, including Whirlpool, HP, Zurich Insurance, Disney+, KFC & more. The platform processes over 4 billion interactions annually and is consistently mentioned as a top industry player by Gartner, Forrester & Everest. Haptik was named a category leader in Bot Platforms by G2 in their Spring 2022 report, based on a rating of 4.5/5.0 by more than 100 customers. Outside of Haptik, Aakrit is an active angel investor in startups in India, having made close to 80 such investments. He is a charter member of the Entrepreneurs Organisation and Co-Chair of H2 India. He serves on the boards of various technology startups, helping them with go-to-market, scaling & team building. Aakrit has been recognized by Entrepreneur 35 Under 35, Forbes 30 Under 30, and Businessworld 40 Under 40. He has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.

Andrés A. van der Horst

General Manager, Fiduciarias Reservas, Dominican Republic

Andrés van der Horst Álvarez is Secretary of State, Founder and Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Council of the Dominican Republic. He has successfully engaged the public and private sector to develop a comprehensive competitiveness strategy for the Dominican Republic, resulting in the first National Competitiveness Plan of the Dominican Republic, praised by international organizations and donors such as the Inter-American Developing Bank and European Union. Under his leadership the DR has committed to initiatives such as the Country-Brand Strategy, the Business Climate Initiative with the IDB, and cluster development, consistently increasing the number of clusters in the DR since 2004. He has presented more than 10 policy reforms on competitiveness, resulting in the country's recognition as one of the top 10 reformers according to Doing Business 2009. An author and former negotiator for the Dominican Republic, Central America and the United States Free Trade Agreement, he has been invited as professor, lecturer and special guest speaker at over 100 international events.
