Alan Knott-Craig

Chairman, Isizwe, South Africa

Alan Knott-Craig is an entrepreneur and author.

Originally from Pretoria, he studied at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (formerly UPE) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002.

In 2013 Alan founded and became CEO of Project Isizwe, a non-profit company managing the deployment of the largest public Free Wi-Fi network in Africa.

Forbes listed him as one of the top 10 young African millionaires to watch. He was also included in “100 Choiseul Africa", a list of top 100 young African business leaders in 2014, and nominated as an 2015 ICT Personality of the Year by ITWeb.

Kimathi Kuenyehia Sr

Managing Partner, Kimathi & Partners, Corporate Attorneys, Ghana

KIMATHI KUENYEHIA is an award-winning Harvard-educated transactional lawyer ranked as one of the top 5 leading lawyers in Ghana by Legal 500. Kimathi’s practice is focused on providing high-end legal services exclusively to foreign governments, global multinationals and Fortune 500 companies doing business in Ghana. His clients include four of the most developed countries in the world or their agencies and most of the major global multinationals doing business in Ghana.

Kimathi is the first and the only African to win the prestigious International Bar Association Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year award for his “professional excellence, innovative approach to legal practice, community service and reputation for the advancement of legal ethics”.

Kimathi is the Managing Partner at Kimathi & Partners, a leading and an exceptional law firm ranked as a tier 1 law firm. Kimathi is the co-founder of African Entrepreneurs Hub (AEH), an entrepreneurial focused charity established to create a platform where accomplished entrepreneurs share their knowledge and experiences with young entrepreneurs/ business owners. Thus far, over 100 speakers have reached or mentored over 2000 young entrepreneurs/ business owners.

A thought leader “who thinks outside the box”, Kimathi is the co-author of Electricity, Oil and Mining Regulation in Ghana. He is currently writing a book on Corporate Law and Practice in Ghana. Kimathi, who is a director of a Google subsidiary in Ghana, is admitted to practice law in Ghana and New York.

Betty Enyonam Kumahor

Chairperson, The Cobalt Partners, Ghana

Enyo Kumahor is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Cobalt Partners; an advisory firm specializing in design thinking, software development and performance improvement. Formerly with Ernst & Young as a Global Technology Leader and ThoughtWorks as the Regional Managing Director for Africa, Enyo has a depth of management consulting and software development experience across both public and private sector clients across the world. Enyo serves on a number of advisory boards and is a recognized speaker on technology and telecommunications in Africa. She has been profiled on programmes including Ghana Broadcasting Corporation's UniqFM StandOut programme, and in Ernst & Young's Global NextGen, and led her company (ThoughtWorks) to be nominated as best African Company of the Year in 2013.

Cina Lawson

Minister of Digital Economy and Transformation, Ministry of Posts, Digital Economy and Technological Innovation of Togo, Togo

Cina Lawson is Togo’s Minister of Digital Economy and Transformation. Drawing from over 20 years of experience and expertise in digital policy and regulation, she has led Togo’s successful transition to an inclusive digital economy.
Lawson began her career at the World Bank in Washington, D.C, assisting governments in emerging markets in executing regulatory reforms. She then worked for Alcatel-Lucent in Paris before joining Orange Group in New York City as Manager of Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
As a minister, she transformed the regulatory environment to foster innovation, competition, and private investments. She has been uniquely innovative in championing private sector investment in the public's interest via joint ventures and partnerships with global enterprises (e.g., Google, CSquared, Asseco, Axian).
Under Lawson’s leadership, Togo became the first West African country to deploy 5G services. Over the last decade, she increased digital service penetration so that a majority of the population now has access to mobile telephony (from 33% in 2010 to 78% in 2021) to mobile internet (from 1% in 2010 to 74% in 2021), and to mobile money (from 1% in 2013 to 57% in 2021).
Lawson also used digital means to better enable financial inclusion. For example, during the Covid-19 pandemic, she initiated and launched the digital cash transfer program Novissi, which distributed $34M in financial aid to a quarter of Togo’s adult population.
Lawson’s leadership has gained international recognition, including from the World Economic Forum, SXSW, and Forbes. In 2019, she received the Harvard Alumni Public Service Award, becoming the first African female public servant honoree since its establishment. Lawson graduated from Sciences Po Paris and earned a Masters of Public Policy from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government. She speaks Fluent French, English, and Ewe (Mina).

Achankeng Leke

Senior Partner; Chairman, Africa; Leader, Private Equity and Principal Investors, Africa; Member, McKinsey Global Institute Council, McKinsey & Company, South Africa

Acha Leke is Senior Partner in Johannesburg and Chairman of McKinsey, Africa. He leads McKinsey's Private Equity and Principal Investors practice in Africa, and is a member of the McKinsey Global Institute Council. Previously, he served for three years as part-time consultant for Pacific Monolithics and Spectrian Corporation in California and, in 1998, as a Summer Associate at McKinsey's Johannesburg office. In 1999, Acha rejoined Atlanta, and moved to South Africa in 2002. His client work is split between telecom, oil and gas, banking, private equity and economic development. Leke is Co-Founder and Member of the Board of the African Leadership Academy, a co-educational boarding school that aims to develop the next generation of African leaders. He holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, an MSc in Electrical Engineering, an MSc in Industrial Engineering/Engineering Management and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Jacob Lief

Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Ubuntu Pathways, South Africa

Jacob Lief is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Ubuntu Education Fund, a non-profit organization that takes vulnerable children in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, from cradle to career. Ubuntu's programmes form an integrated system of medical, health, educational and social services, ensuring that a child who is either orphaned or vulnerable could, after several years, succeed in the world of higher education and employment. Ubuntu's child-centred approach highlights the difference between merely touching a child's life versus fundamentally changing it. In 2009, Lief was selected as an Aspen Institute Global Fellow. In 2012, he was asked to join the Clinton Global Initiative Advisory Committee. Later that year, he was named one of the world's 101 most innovative visionaries at the Decide Now Act Summit. Lief holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Melvyn Lubega

Founder and Chairman, Baobab Group, South Africa

Melvyn Lubega is an experienced technology entrepreneur and investor who has built businesses that serve customers around the world. He founded the Baobab Group in 2015, which now employs over 1,000 people. As an entrepreneur, most notably Lubega built and scaled Go1, a leading technology platform used by 17,000 organizations and governments in over 60 countries. Go1 became the first South African unicorn (valued at +$2 billion) attracting over $450 million in investment from Salesforce Ventures and M12 (Microsoft Ventures) among other tier-one international investors. Built through his passion for developing people, every 1.2 seconds someone somewhere in the world starts a course on Go1. Prior to Go1, Lubega built, exited and invested in leading fintech companies across Africa. He is a Partner at Breega, one of the fastest-growing early stage venture capital investors in EMEA, with over $600 million in assets under management, investing in disruptive technologies that solve significant economic and social challenges. Lubega is also a referenced thought leader and invited speaker, both abroad and locally, on digital transformation, the future of work, venture capital, disruptive innovation, corporate governance and business strategy. He has been recognized by Forbes and was the first African recipient of The Lindas in 2021, Endeavor Global’s most prestigious accolade. The award is given by a community of 2,300 leaders from many of the fastest-growing companies in the world to the person who embodies the spirit of “dreaming big, scaling up and paying it forward”. In 2023, given his success in building businesses from Africa that scale globally, Lubega was recognized as a leading business person at the 11th All Africa Business Leadership Awards. He is an actuary by training and a Rhodes Scholar. He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, receiving a distinction for his research into disruptive technologies in emerging markets.

Larry Madowo

International Correspondent, CNN Worldwide, Kenya

Larry Madowo is an International Correspondent at CNN based in Nairobi. He is also a regular fill-in anchor who has presented CNN International programs from Atlanta and Dubai. He was previously a North America Correspondent for the BBC based in Washington, DC. He covered the summer of protests following the murder of George Floyd, the 2020 US presidential election and the inauguration of Joe Biden. He also anchored BBC World News America, a flagship program that is also syndicated on PBS stations across the US.

Madowo previously served as the BBC Africa Business Editor, where he oversaw the launch of six syndicated shows in three languages and managed more than two dozen business journalists based in London and four African countries.

Before joining the BBC he worked for NTV Kenya and CNBC Africa, where he anchored the business channel's daily market shows Open Exchange, Power Lunch and Closing Bell in Johannesburg. Madowo has a master's in Business and Economics Journalism from Columbia University in New York, where he was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow.

Néné Maïga

Chief Executive Officer, Orange Botswana, Botswana

Néné Maïga, from Timbuktu, Mali, is a visionary telecommunications leader. As CEO of Orange Botswana since 2021, she has propelled significant growth, revolutionizing internet speeds for Botswana. Previously, as Chief of Staff of Orange Middle East and CEO of Orange Africa, she spearheaded transformative projects and championed gender parity. Maïga is dedicated to leveraging digital technology for African empowerment, showcasing exceptional leadership and a commitment to innovation in her remarkable journey.

Tumi Makgabo

Founder and Executive Director, AfricaWorldwide Media, South Africa

A businesswoman and entrepreneur, Tumi Makgabo runs AfricaWorldwide Media, a company which aims to provide more opportunities for Africans to tell their stories through the production of development-focused content and the use of online platforms. She is also the founder of Tumi Makgabo Enterprises, which invests in opportunities throughout Africa. An accomplished broadcaster in both her native South Africa and for news network CNN International, Makgabo uses her voice on global platforms to advocate for action on some of Africa's most pressing issues, particularly the empowerment of women and freedom of press. She currently serves on the Boards of Sun International, TFG (The Foschini Group) and Lebone II College of the Royal Bafokeng.

Esha Mansingh

Head, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, sub-Saharan Africa, DP World, South Africa

Esha Mansingh serves as the Executive Head of Corporate Affairs and sustainability for sub-Saharan Africa at DP World, where she is responsible for corporate affairs, sustainability, regional partnerships and sponsorships, communications and stakeholder relations. She is the Former Executive Vice President: Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations at JSE listed Imperial Logistics. Esha is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, class of 2022, and she is also a member of Harvard Kennedy School’s Women Leadership Board. Esha is a seasoned board member, serving as a member of NBI, Unjani Clinics, Imperial & Motus Community Trust and World Economic Forum’s New Champions South Africa Boards. She has over 14 years leadership experience in investor relations, corporate affairs, communications and sustainability.

Esha has been recognised globally for her work in women empowerment, women in business and social impact, having been recognised among 100 Most Successful Women in Business in the World 2021 by GTC, a Top 50 Power of Women 2021 by Mail and Guardian, Positive Role Model for Listed Companies in Southern Africa by Accenture Gender Mainstreaming Awards 2021 among others.

Temi Marcella

Founding Partner, Alcent Capital, Nigeria

Temi Marcella, a distinguished investment professional, has strategically committed almost $1 billion in capital globally. As the inaugural Executive Director and Board Member of Evercare Hospital in Nigeria, a pivotal player in transforming the country’s healthcare system, she pioneered its development. Leading the region for the $1 billion Evercare Health Fund managed by TPG Capital, Marcella was instrumental in scaling Evercare from inception to a global platform, earning recognition as one of the top 50 leaders set to "define the world of tomorrow". Her achievements include being honoured by successive presidential administrations, to serve on the Presidential Transition & Health Sector Reform Committees, underscoring her significant contributions to the investment landscape and healthcare transformation on the continent. Marcella is a Milken Institute Young Leaders Circle Fellow, Kauffman Venture Capital Fellow, Tutu Fellow, World Economic Forum Global Shaper alumna and a Goldman Sachs Global Leader. She serves on international boards including Save the Children and the Equality Fund.
