5 YGLs in Greater China
Ding Dang
Ding Dang began as an immigrant worker in China and later took the initiative to establish an NGO to support immigrant women workers and their children in Shenzhen, a vital manufacturing hub and the “Silicon Valley” of China. Despite the significant contributions of rural women workers to China’s growth, their voices often go unheard. Dang’s NGO amplifies these voices, helping the women’s integration into urban life, fostering confidence and improving living conditions. As a TEDxWomen speaker, Dang founded the Green Rose Social Work Service Center in Shenzhen in 2015, positively impacting thousands of women and children. The centre addresses issues such as health, gender-based violence, education, community support and income stability.
Cong Han
Han Cong, a Chinese pair skater, alongside partner Sui Wenjing, boasts an illustrious career. They clinched the 2022 Olympic gold and the 2018 silver, securing two world championships and three world silver medals. Their historic feat at the Beijing 2022 Games set a Guinness World Record for the highest total score in pairs’ figure skating (239.88). Beyond the podium, Han engages in impactful philanthropy and sports outreach. Visiting schools and organizing charity events, he amplifies the Olympic spirit’s influence. His dedication, resilience and sporting achievements make him a remarkable figure, contributing significantly to the global recognition of figure skating.
He Sen Liu
He-sen Liu (Jason Liu), the proud founder and chef of LING LONG, the Michelin-star restaurants located in Beijing and Shanghai, China. His culinary prowess has earned LING LONG Beijing the prestigious No. 77 spot on the Asia's Best 50 Restaurants 2023 list, while LING LONG Shanghai appears to be No. 36 in 2024. Recognized as the Young Chef of the Year by both the Michelin Guide and the Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, Jason further solidifies his culinary standing by being featured in the Best Chef Top 100 in the World. In the adventurous year of 2024, Jason has been invited to be the guest model of Hermès Summer 2024 Men’s Wear Fashion Show, and chosen to be the first celebrity chef cooperates with Shake Shack in mainland China.
Liang Pei
Liang Pei, Deputy Director at the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, has played a pivotal role in the country’s engagement with the multilateral processes on climate change negotiations. With a track record of 12 consecutive Conference of Parties (COP) participation during his career in the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the National Development and Reform Commission, including witnessing the success of the Paris Agreement, he has actively contributed to combating climate change globally. Liang has spearheaded the drafting of critical joint statements, agreements and major outcome documents. He has also been instrumental in driving high-level cooperation and dialogues with key partners including the United States, European Union, France, India, Brazil, South Africa and Saudi Arabia. Liang is dedicated to promoting China's ecological civilization and advancing the nation's commitment to achieving the 3060 goal. With a strong mission-driven approach and extensive experience in climate change and low-carbon development, he possesses a deep understanding of global climate governance and international cooperation on carbon neutrality.
Liang holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in International Relations from Peking University. He was a visiting scholar at John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
Shi Zhe
Zhe Shi is Chief Digital Officer at Foxconn Technology Group where he spearheads internal digital transformation and smart manufacturing initiatives. Prior to his role at Foxconn, he co-founded CyberInsight Tech Beijing. With a wealth of experience in both research and industry, he has collaborated with global leaders in transportation, renewable energy, automotive and more, developing intelligent solutions to address challenges. He has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, specializing in Prognostics and Health Management.
